Lemon and sugar: natural exfoliation

By: Adriana Alcol

BENEFITS OF LEMON:
Helps unify skin tone, clarifying sunspots
Works against acne
It is antibacterial and astringent
Helps soften the signs of expression and the first wrinkles
Perfect for oily skins

BENEFITS OF SUGAR :
It acts as a natural exfoliant
Helps remove dead cells from the face, neck and chest

INSTRUCTIONS:

After washing the face perfectly, take a cotton pad and dip it in water. Then apply a few drops of lemon -6 to 8- and cover it up with sugar, just a thin layer, and spread it evenly over the face using small circular motions, gently but letting sugar work as an exfoliant on the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, never in the eye area. If you feel your skin reacts well, you can do it again the same way a second time.

Leave on the mixture for 20 minutes and then with the wet sponge begins to remove the mask until your face is completely clean. To end this routine, clear your face with cold water to help further minimize your pores. Dry carefully your face with a towel.

Your face will feel much smoother and clean. As a final recommendation, try to make this mask twice a week and at night, to avoid makeup after this homemade exfoliating mask.

Allergies: an inmmunological tantrum

By: Dr. Gabriel Óscar Bertona
"The Symptom and its Function", December 2011

What are allergies?

Specialists refer there are several reasons that favor the increase of allergic diseases in our time, first the urbanization and environmental pollution, changes in pollination (global warming), the largest number of cesareans and colonization ( by normal bacterial flora) conditioning the inmune response, the absence or reduced breastfeeding (ideally exclusively until 6 months to one and a half year) Also affecting the amount of antibodies, and / or early weaning (the passage of food based on milk solids) before 6 months, increasing the passage of allergens (substances that cause an exaggerated response of the immune system).

All this should make us think about our society and what we build every day, and the importance of consciousness from conception and at every stage of the first year of life, which is so important for the maturation of the immune system.

Like all diseases, allergy reflects an aspect of personality, an attitude towards life, where we do not recognize, we deny ourselves, and get sick because of that, we restricte our freedom and creative expression in life. Reflects different degrees of intolerance, scandal, immunological and psychological tantrums, irritability, perfectionism, pride, denial of one's mistakes, and, as in other cases, the higher is the intensity of the resistance to change, the higher is the symptom intensity.

What heals allergies?

If the problem is things I perceive as terrible, that enervate me, I can not stand, unthinkable, me or others, and over time I become intolerant and arrogant then, the kit against allergies must contain acceptance, openness, toleration, respect to diversity, noting the contributions of all to unity, humility, compassion, soften, permission to err , warn mistakes as sacred evolutionary possibilities, stop competing or perceiving myself as superior from the others, stop pretending "to change" the world and instead take care of improving myself, get out of the solitude of " my truth " and open up to the diversity of particular truths, etc.

Let's not resign ourselves to be "allergic", as this can be fraught with stigma and grave. Allergy is an attitude and, as everything in life, is susceptible to change and a process of transformation as profound as we encourage and commit with ourselves.

Rebuilding tissues

Behold, a "ghost heart!" All of the living cells have been washed off this pig heart, so it can provide a scaffolding for human stem cells to grow a new, working heart. So far, scientists at the Texas Heart Institute have successfully implanted tissue-engineered hearts like this one into rats and pigs, and they hope to someday do the same in humans. Read about this and other bio-engineering experiments in the new TED Book, “Super Cells.” Photo courtesy of RMR Labs, Texas Heart Institute.

Butter vs. margarine

Comparison:
  • Both have the same amount of calories.
  • Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams for margarine.
  • Eating margarine instead of butter can increase by 53 % the risk of coronary heart disease in women, according to a recent medical study at the University of Harvard.
  • Eating butter increases the absorption of many nutrients found in other foods.
  • Butter has many nutritional benefits while margarine has a few only because they are added.
  • Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.
  • Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has less than 100 years.
More about margarine:
  • It is very high in transgenic fatty acids. (Yes, those which scientists discovered recently that are terrible and some governments began banning).
  • Triples risk of coronary heart disease.
  • Increases total cholesterol and LDL (bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL (good cholesterol).
  • Increases fivefold cancer risk.
  • Lowers quality of breast milk.
  • Decreases immune response of the organism.
  • Decreases insulin reaction.

And here's the most disturbing factor: Margarine is just ONE MOLECULE far for being PLASTIC!

This fact alone is sufficient to avoid using margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, which changes the molecular structure of substances).

Listening to color

Artist Neil Harbisson was born completely color blind, but these days a device attached to his head turns color into audible frequencies. Instead of seeing a world in grayscale, Harbisson can hear a symphony of color -- and yes, even listen to faces and paintings.

He is the first cyborg in the world recognized by a goverment.

Before and after drugs consumption

Photographic project: Roman Sakovich
Article: Giancarlo

According to photographer Roman Sakovich, based in the UK, the interesting thing about drugs is not only what you experience inside when eating them, but the visible traces they left in the body. It was thus decided to create his Half photographic project, in which the effect of addiction are shown, in particular the effects of methamphetamine or meth.

In the photographic series, half of the body represents a healthy person, and half reveals the physical appearance acquired by individuals who abuse these substances. The effects achieved are not made by editing computer, but by careful and well-managed use of makeup and lighting.

Beyond the obvious deterioration of addicts, this series also creates a reflexion on the radically different way in which society tends to judge a person before and after an addiction. The subject continues to be a person with more aspects in his life that only the physical appearance and habits.

Enviromental awarness

By: Tania Kleinfeld

Our planet is a living organism and we are part of it. If we pollute, we pollute ourselves. If we take care of it, we take care of ourselves. If it's cycle changes, we change with it ... We need to stop thinking and acting like a if it was an object from which only material goods are extracted, we must learn to feel as he feels, and thus recognize the life and consciousness that inhabits it.
As simple as it may seem, considering the planet as a living being, has profound consequences for us, it could transform habits of thought and behavior deeply rooted and, therefore, a new relationship between man and the environment, that, it should be emphasized, are not two separate beings, is one.
Currently, it is common for individuals to be unfamiliar with environmental problems and not be clear of how to participate in their community to help protect the environment. To change this reality, it's necessry to create environmental awareness through education, training and capacity in environmental values. Environmental education is fundamental for the evolution of mankind. Only through it, citizens will take responsibility for their contribution to the processes of environmental degradation and make a clear commitment to the protection and conscious forms, conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
This should be a change from the root, not only from the surface. Do not just read about it, nor plan and dream that someday we will live in harmony with the environment. It's time to act, and for actting we must raise awareness. Education strengthens the independence and autonomy of people and allows making informed and responsible decisions. The goal of environmental culture is to improve relations between man and nature and men together. It aims to make people aware of the global environment and have the knowledge, attitudes, motivations and desires to work individually and collectively in the search for solutions to current problems, to reorient their values and to the forceful transformation of reality.

Creaciones Orgánicas is a service to the community, which informs and educates through videos, images, and texts that provide a clearer picture of what is going on in the environmental world view.

Natural sweeteners

"Sugar has become a constant companion in most of our lives. Whether added to our tea or coffee, or found in our favorite packaged foods we find in the supermarket aisles, sugar is hard to remove from our diet all together. With obesity levels shooting up, and greater understanding of just how sugar can wreak havoc on our health, the hunt is on for alternatives.
But there’s a problem. Many sugar substitutes are synthetics that are no better for us than real sugar. What’s more, some of these synthetics – aspartame and acesulfame-K to name just two – have been linked to cancer."
